Should I dress like my favorite celeb. Part 1

34
In our country, celebrity idolization is a religion in itself. There are people who devote their lives to walking, talking and dressing like their favorite celebrities. But in this day and age, sheer imitation of your favorite celebrity will make you a fool in the sight of your peers. The key idea is to take “inspiration” from celebrity styles and incorporate them into your everyday wardrobe.

Celebrities are the best source of style inspiration, especially their public appearances and random shots from their day to day life, because during their normal days they try to look put together but in a normal way. This is what we all are striving to achieve.

Here are some tips to bear in mind when you are attempting to imitate a celebrity look:
·         Rather than change your entire style, pick a celebrity whose style is similar to yours. In this case, the appealing part might be the fact that the celebrity looks more put together while attempting to your same style and you can examine their dressing to figure out where you are going wrong.

·       Dont break your bank by attempting to buy the same things that the celebrity wears, instead hunt for similar pieces that are affordable and incorporate them to create the style of choice. There are sites that sell outfits that are similar to celebrity styles. An example is koovs.com
·

Keep the event in mind. If you are going somewhere with your family elders in attendance, it would be best to avoid dressing up in leather pants or ripped denims. But you can always take inspiration for indian wear from celebrities as well. Some popular look right now are Sonakshi’s look in R…Rajkumar and Deepika’s from Ramleela.

·          Things that you can try to copy are their hairstyles, dressing style, and makeup styles. Most celebrities dress up in a way that best highlights their whole attitude about life and their dressing reflects that. So make sure that you have the attitude to pull off the looks. There are gazillions of makeup tutorials on youtube and other blogs that can help one achieve all the celeb looks they desire.

·         Never ever try to imitate an entire look by a celebrity. This will be quickly identifiable by other people who pay some attention to the current celebrity trends. Instead, take the celebrity look and add elements of yourself to make it personalized.

·         Just because a celebrity wears a trend, does not make it a great one. Celebrities are people too, and some of them have bad taste in style. So make sure that you are not following a trend that is hated by everyone. Vidya Balan and the heavy Sabyasachi Kanjeevarams during Cannes 2013 is a classic example.

·
Just because a trend or outfit looks good on a celebrity does not mean that it will look just as great on you. Before wearing something out onto the streets or to a function, do a trial run and really look at yourself. Does it look great on you? Get the opinion from your family and friends as well, but the first and foremost, make sure that you love what you are wearing. If it doesn't feel right to you, it probably isn't right for you.

·        You do not always need to follow the current celebrities for style inspirations. There are some classic styles like Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelley, or Elizabeth Taylor whose style never goes out of vogue. Or closer home, there are style icons like Rekha whose avatar never goes out of fashion.
